Edinburgh's Forest Cafe threatened with closure (campaign centric)
Am fully aware that this thread will generate loads of responses along the lines of 'blah blah hippies blah blah shithole blah blah ahm oot' as well as a few people talking about markets and so on, but i don't care.
this wonderful venue/cafe/arts space, volunteer run, a ton of free events ranging from chipcore festivals to fashion shows to film nights to workshops to chess tournaments and all kinds of other parties - something for everyone really, with a completely open door policy to promoters and artists of all ages and shapes - is in danger, since the landlords went into administration and are selling the place. the crew at the forest are trying to raise the money to buy the place themselves and allow it to continue. to this end they're appealing for funds as well as running a bunch of fundraising parties and things over the coming month. if you've been to the forest, are a regular, occasionally stop by the gallery, or see any value in having such a completely autonomous, popular, generous, fun, unique arts and music venue (as well as publishing press, record label etc. etc.) in the middle of Edinburgh (as opposed to another Tesco, which is very much on the card), do show your support if you can.
